Camping and Pre Show Warm Up @ Redline Rumble 2005
Here it is ladies and gentlemen!!!!
This was going to be the first big stand of the year for GirlsnMotors, and the hardcore members decided it would be a good idea to go down the day before and set up camp. After getting up early to pack the car, and forgetting all of the food, I made my way to Kettering to go pick up Lisa (vdubbabe). After she filled most of the boot, and all of the back seats with clothes and bags, ready for a few weeks, and not just a night, we set off to the pod.
We arrived there at just after midday, expecting to be able to go set up camp and wait for the main convoy to arrive. We got told, not green slip, no entry to get onto the area where we would camp. Phoned the main convoy, would be about an hour. Went to watch the strip for a while, but was might cold. The main convoy turned up to be 2 hours later, so at just after 2, about 7 car loads of people, tents, food and lots of alcohol got through to set up camp.
Gail force winds, of nearly hurricane speeds battered the brave campers in their mission to erect some tents (erect was a key word,
along with chav, for the rest of the day). Tents were put up, with Rick and Paula bringing a tent big enough to house the population of a small country. Steve (caddyman) and Sarah (Minimadgal) with the help of Andy (Mad_Mechanic) who was "supervising" managed to erect a gazebo, which would have come in very handy that night. But, in the gale force winds, a pole managed to get bent, and that was the end of that.
Drinking started soon after, and the BBQ's were lit up, and food was cooking, and readily eaten by all the people there. Thanks to Jonathon (Pittuf) for supplying me with food, as mine was forgotten, oops! It came to about 6pm, and the site drunk, well, was rather
tipsy/almost drunk, without drinking all that much. I decided to play a little came of "hide the JD" and Andy will seek. It turned out to be a very long-winded game, and was very funny for everyone ... well, maybe except Andy.
First the JD was placed at the bottom of the big bins there, and the perfect opportunity to throw Andy in headfirst. After he got out, and spent a good 30-40 minutes looking for his bottle of JD, we decided to hide his Stella as well. This did not go down to well with Andy, who was getting rather upset. See the video on the forum about how he could not find his Stella, is rather amusing!
We then told him the JD was put in the women's toilets. He took the long walk over to the toilets, where I'm told there is photographic
evidence that he went in and searched all over for it. We continued to hide it, and Jon hid it in his car for a while. So, it wasn't all me!!! I'm sure this must have passed about 2 hours, and rrc had a great time!! We felt a bit sorry for him, so we finally told him where his JD. Jays Skyline had some a new Stella exhaust and JD alloys. Was looking fine. Andy then hide it in his boot, but managed to not notice me removing it and placing it in the barriers near the camp. He finally found that, and locked it in his car, it was finally safe.
Jon and Rick had been playing football earlier in the night, and Rick and me decided to play some more. Playing near our cars, we hadn't managed to hit anything or go anywhere near the other people camping. However, some prick in a saxo at the next stand wanted to have a moan and a go at us and picked on the wrong person. Yes, pick on the skyline owner when you ask what car do you drive, pure genius. I look forward to the skyline vs. saxo (1.1 or 1.4 rrc think) race at the pod soon!!!
It was getting rather cold and windy; wish rrc had taken my coat. Yes, another thing rrc forgot, do you see a trend?? Lisa and Carla (Blondi) had taken several trips to the toilet together, and must have been gone about 2 hours in total!! Maybe something we don't know about?? But, I have to say I was lucky in that I had both them fine looking ladies in my tent for more than a while, making everyone else wonder as well. All innocent I can tell you ... or was it?
That's pretty much where the night ended, everyone chatted a bit more, but it was bloody cold, and we all had an early start the next morning to cook, wash and polish the cars, and get set to have the best stand at the show!!!
